Christmas Markets in Salzburg, Munich and Nürnberg

Salzburg

The Salzburg Christmas market, officially known as the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt, is a festive event held annually in Salzburg, Austria, known for its beautiful setting and historical significance. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe, tracing its origins back to the 15th century. The market is located in the heart of the city's UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, specifically on Domplatz and Residenzplatz, and extends to the foot of the Hohensalzburg Castle.

Salzburg is on of my favorite cities to visit any season of the year.

Hellbrunn

Hellbrunn is one of the most beautiful Christmas Markets.

In 2001, Josef Gassner leased the restaurant at Hellbrunn Palace. It was his idea to open a Christmas market in the palace courtyard. It was then that Hellbrunn Adventzauber was born.

What started in 2001 with 6 wooden stalls in the courtyard of Schloss Hellbrunn is today one of the most popular Advent markets in the country with around 60 exhibitors accompanied by wonderful programs for children and families alike.

Munich

Munich for yet another famous Christmas Market in the historic Merin Platz Square in the “Old Town” of Munich. Home to the very first Christmas Market in 1301.

Tollwood

Another must see Market is The Tollwood Festival. “A Feast for the Senses,” with a fantastic Christmas Market, music and performances, international arts and crafts and organic delicacies from all over the world. One of my favorite markets to visit.

Nürnburg

Nürnberg in Bavaria, Germany, one of the most famous Christmas Market in the world, as well as the birthplace of Gingerbread. he “old city” and the famous Christmas Market dated as far back as 1631 .
